I used to work as a cleaner a few years ago and have collected a few bathroom cleaning tips and tricks, hacks if you will. But most of all I just got a good eye for how good cleaning needs to be done. So take it from someone who used to be a professional cleaner! Today I will focus most on 10 gross bathroom spots you never clean but definitely should. I really hope you never forget these after reading this today!
The shower cord
The shower cord usually touches the person who is showering and most of the time that cord is not very clean. Especially if you (or the people you share a shower with) like to grab the shower head. I like to do both, sometimes I leave it up and sometimes I want to hold it. This means that the shower cord eventually gets pretty dirty and you keep on getting that dirt on to you everytime you shower! Luckily for us, it is a very simple fix. A quick easy sweep with some cleaning spray will do the trick and you will never have to think about something gross touching you while you are trying to get clean. You and your bathroom can thank me for this bathroom cleaning tip later.
The wall next to the toilet
The wall right next to your toilet can be pretty disgusting, especially if people do not put down the toilet lid before flushing (please do!). The bacteria from the toilet will splash up into the air and land back onto the toilet, floor AND the wall right next to your toilet. Once again this is an easy cleaning tip since all you need to do is spray down the wall and wipe. Your home is a bit more safe from all the germs!
The wall behind your towels
The wall behind your towels is also a good spot to take extra care of. Think about it. If that wall is gross then that means that your fresh towels are touching the wall right before you use your towel. We wash our towels all the time but never the wall behind them? Cleaning does not have to be hard, just spray down and wipe away.
Underneath the sink
Have you ever looked underneath your bathroom sink? My sink gets very gross, very fast and somehow everything that is in the sink all drips down the side and underneath as well even though I never see it happening. Most people don’t notice how gross their sink is from under but since I am pretty short I do notice it from time to time and you should really take care of it. Scrub away all that old toothpaste and saliva mixture and give your bathroom a real good clean!
The door knob!
The door knob (or handle if you will) is the one place we all use all the time. Therefore we really need to make sure to clean it. It is so small but can definitely be a source of germs and bacteria.
The whole door actually
You know what? I think you should clean the whole door while you are at it. Especially if your door is close to either your sink, toilet or shower. All places with water have a tendency to spray and leave small gross spots. So wipe down that door to follow at least one of these bathroom cleaning tips.
Your bath rug
Everytime you step on that soft, fluffy rug you add a bit more dirt to it. So it is one of the spots you really need to clean since we all love a bath rug. And, your bathroom rug is so easy to clean! Just throw it in the laundry! BOOM you just took care of a really gross spot in your bathroom and all you had to do was put it somewhere.
The ventilation
Another gross spot you need to consider cleaning right now is your ventilation. It is very important you have a clean vent since it takes care of all the air in the room. You do not want to breathe in dust or have a vent that doesn’t work and leaves your bathroom vulnerable for mold…
The paper roll holder
Everytime you are done with your business and need a wipe, you most likely touch the paper roll holder. All of this happens before you wash your hands so I would recommend cleaning the paper roll holder whenever you are cleaning the bathroom. It is in everyone’s interest.
The light switch
The light switch! Same logic here as for the door knob. We all touch it, all the time. Give it a quick clean!
The ceiling
Last but not least. Sometimes we need to clean the ceiling. I bet you have never cleaned your bathroom ceiling. It can be a bit tricky but I do recommend you do it a few times a year. Everytime you shower the old body fluids will spray up the ceiling and if your ventilation is not working too well then all that gross gunk will stay up there, watching you… So my last bathroom cleaning tip to you for a nice fresh bathroom in your home is to clean the ceiling!
